Refractory Materials Workshop will be held on Wednesday, 2 May 2012 in Isfahan Science and Technology Town (ISTT), Isfahan, Iran. Prof. N. Li and Dr. Y. Wei (Wuhan University of Science and Technology, China) and Prof. F. Golestanifard and Dr. H. Sarpoolaky (Iran University of Science and Technology, Iran) are the speakers at this workshop. The 6th International Symposium on Refractories will be held at Zhengzhou, China on October 18 - 21, 2012. The main topics of the conference are:

International Symposium on Refractories


The 12th Biennial Worldwide Refractory Congress (UNITECR 2012) was held at Kyoto International Conference Center, Kyoto, Japan on October 30 - November 2, 2011.

Prof. Golestani Fard, the head of Refractory Research Group (RRG), attended this congress from Iran.


The 12th Conference of the European Ceramic Society (ECerS XII) was held at Stockholm, Sweden on June 19-23, 2011. Prof. Golestani Fard, the head of Refractory Research Group (RRG), had a presentation entitled “Effect of Voltage and Growth Time on Micro Arc Oxidized HAp-TiO2 Nanostructured Hybrid Layers” in Bioceramics session of the congress.


The 8th Congress of Iranian Ceramic Society was held at Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) in 3rd & 4th May 2011. Refractory Research Group (RRG) member had 15 oral and poster presentations in the congress. Prof. Golestani Fard, the head of RRG, had a presentation as a keynote speaker entitled “Refractories: Iran & World Outlooks and Challenges Ahead” in opening session of the congress.


Mr. Y. Safaei Naeini defended his thesis “Low temperature Synthesis of nano MgAl2O4 via molten salt method “ on February 2011 in the schools’ Main conference room. His supervisor was Professor F. Golestani-Fard.

The ceremony of IUST top researchers and the 11th research and technology week festival of Tehran province was held in Iran University of Science and Technology at Wednesday, 29 Dec. 2010. Prof. F. Golestani Fard, the director of Refractory Research Group (RRG) and the head of Center of Excellence for Advanced Materials and Processing (CEAMP) was selected as one of the top three researchers of the School of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering. Also he was admired in this festival for patenting “Method of preparation of phenolic resin/carbon nano materials (hybrid resin)” at the United States Patents Organization (USPTO) No. 12499121, 2009.


The Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) organized the 'Third International Nanotechnology Festival (Iran Nano 2010)' was held at Tehran International Exhibition Fairground, Tehran, on October 25-29.
On 9 October, Ali earned his BSc. degree after successfully defending his thesis titled “Synthesis Of Reaction Bonded Silicon Carbide“ under supervision of Prof. F. Golestani-Fard. In his thesis, Mr. Shahi investigates the properties and characterization of reaction bonded silicon carbide bodies using silicon and carbon black as the main raw materials.

The Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) organized the 'Third International Nanotechnology Festival (Iran Nano 2010)' was held at Tehran International Exhibition Fairground, Tehran, on October 25-29.
This year's Festival included the following sections:
1. Exhibition
2. Public Education
3. Special Industrial Zone
4. Corridor of Nanotechnology Development Services
5. Nano Awards Ceremony
6. Workshops
7. Art and Nanotechnology Competition
According to the INIC, the objectives of holding the festival were discovering the research and industrial potentials in the field of nanotechnology, paving the way for the Iranian companies to take part in the international markets, and promoting the public awareness about nanotechnology products. The first and second International Nanotechnology Festivals were held in October 2008 and November 2009, respectively.

 


Prof. M. Mohammed and Dr. M. Toprak from Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) Stockholm, Sweden will give presentations at the School of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering by the invitation of Prof. F. Golestani-Fard, chairman of the Centre of Excellence for Advanced Materials and Processing (CEAMP) On Sunday October 24 2010, 11 a.m. Prof. Mohammed will spoke about “Nano particle for biomedical application” and the topic of Dr. M. Toprak lecture is “Application of nano technology in energy”


Mr. Alireza Tebyani Panah will defend his thesis “Effects of Nano Cr2O3 on properties of Magnesia Chromite refractories “ on Monday 22 November at 15 in the schools’ Main conference room. His supervisor is Professor F. Golestani-Fard.

Managing Director of National Iranian Steel Co. announced that production capacity of crude steel will witness 60 percent growth in the Fourth Development Plan. As carried by IMIDRO’s PR, by unveiling the news Mohammad Najm al-Sadat asserted: “The production capacity of this strategic metal in the early Fourth Development Plan (2005) was 10 million and 710 thousand tons, while with the implementation of the new projects at the end of last year, the figure reached to 17 million and 100 thousand tons.” He also noted that the installed capacity of crude steel at the beginning of the Third Development Plan (2000 to 2004) was 7 million and 410 thousand tons.
